I am sending this e-mail to you in the hope that you can help me to resolve a problem.
Recently, I downloaded the program Audacity 1.0.0 on to my computer. I understand that in order for this program to work properly I must first obtained a lame_enc.dll separately, by downloading a LAME MP3 encoder, and then locate this file for Audacity. I understand I only need to do this once.
However, I have not been able to figure out how to download the encoder. When I open the Audacity program and click on file, preferences and then file formats. I notice that under "MP3 Export Setup" where it says "Mp3 Library Version" it states that the MP3 plugin is not found. I noticed there is a "find library" button to click. When I click on this button a window opens up informing me Audacity does not export MP3 files directly, but instead uses a freely available LAME library to handle MP3 file encoding, and that I must obtain the lame_enc.dll separately by downloading a LAME MP3 encoder. Try as I have, I cannot figure out how to, or where to go to download this LAME MP3 encoder.
Any help or assistance with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for any advice that you can send to me.

At the Audacity web site, go to the download page for your operating
system. There will be a link to download the LAME encoder:
