I just downloaded your Audacity MP3 editor. Just an FYI. The default for
AMPLIFY is too loud and completely distorts the sound with static.
Wasn't sure if you were aware of this or not.

A comment in my previous post relates to the Amplify item. The issue is, if
I highlight a section of audio that is smaller than -24dB and call up
Amplify then the slider will be at max and the 'Amplification (dB):' box will be at
(say) 25.9dB and the 'New Peak Amplitude (dB):' will be at 0.0 dB. If I
click 'OK' then I will get 24dB of amplification, not what either of these boxes
My questions are:
Is this right? (my answer: No, I'm not seeing what I will get.)
Should it say '24 dB' (and an appropriate 'peak'), coz that's what you are
going to get?
Should it give you what it says and a peak of 0dB?

this has been an issue for a long while.
