First: does the project sample rate match the sample rate of
the wave file? If not, it will sound choppy. (This is not

one, I want to know what's special about that one file.
If anything you play back sounds choppy using Audacity, I
think it's an OSS problem. In that case I want to know what
sound card you're using.
If you're sure it's just this one file (and all other wave
files sound fine), could you send me the file?
(Send it to me personally, not to audacity-help, please.)
If it's large (more than 500K), please send me only the first
500K - that will be plenty for me to figure out what's wrong.

We're doing something wrong in the way we play sound using OSS. It affects
some sound cards a lot more than others, but it's definitely our problem.
Unfortunately I'm not really sure how to fix it.
Luckily we're about to try switching to a different audio I/O library
(also based on OSS) so hopefully this will be fixed soon.
