| I dont know alot about the programe yet so
| please be specific. I only get playback sound out of one speaker
| (the left one). I have a 5.1 speaker setup. How do i get the
| playback sound to come out all of the speakers?
Do you mean that only files playing in Audacity have sound coming out
of one speaker, or that any file playing on your computer only has
sound coming out of one speaker? Or are you talking only about
playthrough of a recording? Is the file or recording mono or stereo
as stated on the Track Panel where the mute/solo buttons are?
Audacity will always send sound to the sound device as two channels -
if there are five tracks they're downmixed to stereo, and if the track or
tracks are mono, the single channel is duplicated. Assuming obviously
your speakers are connected properly, then how your sound device
sends the two channels to the surround speakers depends on its
configuration. It's possible there's an option for mono sound received
by the device as identical stereo channels to be sent only to the left
channel, or it may even do this automatically. Similarly, stereo sound
may only be sent to left and right speakers rather than to all five
speakers. So you need to look in the configuration for the sound device
Audacity 1.3.2 (only) can export multichannel files and a dialogue
to path different tracks to different output channels appears when
you File > Export As WAV, FLAC or OGG.
