| Hi Gale,
| One question ; when I export a WAV file as an MP3 it asks me if Iwant
| to save it as an ID3v1 file or ID3v2. I am making podcasts so which
| should I save it as?
Things have changed a bit so can you now send your questions to the list
not to me personally - thanks.
I'd use ID3v1 - everyone's player will be able to read them.
Audacity's ID3v2 support is not finished yet as full ID3v2 support
allows the user to edit the genre list.
Officially ID3v1 encompasses the first 79 Genres (up to and including
Hard Rock) in the Genre list in Audacity's Edit ID3 tags dialog, so to be
ultra safe, stick to those. If you want to use genres from number 80
(Folk) to 126 (Dance Hall) in the Audacity dialog you can do so as
either ID3v1 or ID3v2 tags. From genre 126 (Goa) downwards you
must select the ID3v2 radio button for the genre to be written .
However you can use the comment tag in either ID3v1 or ID3v2.
