You can try using the equaliser to remove some of the high frequency content and improve listenablity, but it tends to be hard to avoid loosing a lot of clarity as well.
At the moment I don't know of a good implementation of a clipping remover that is easily available (there is one for linux only, available via CVS, but that's probably a bit obscure for anyone but computer enthusiasts as yet. http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=22051&st=0&p=214926&#entry214926)
