| Subject: [Audacity-help] Play disabled
| When I click the play button on my audacity console I get the message
| How do I correct it?
This message should only appear (in Audacity 1.2.6) either if you don't
actually have any tracks open to play, or if you are recording a track (or
paused while recording it). You cannot play a track while recording
it, or while recording another one, except by enabling these two options
at Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O:
1) Play other tracks while recording new one - enable this if you want to
play a track on screen while recording a new one. Just press the red
record button and playback of the pre-existing tracks will start along
with your recording of the new track
2) Software playthrough - enable this if you want to record a track and
hear that recorded track play back while you are recording it.
If you can't operate the play button with a track on screen, try pressing
the stop button (repeatedly if necessary).
If you have any further questions, please tell us what operating system
you are on (e.g. Windows XP, OS X 10.4, and if you are on OS X,
whether it is an Intel Mac or Power PC). Also please tell us what version
of Audacity you are using (see Help > About in the program).
Outbound message virus free.
