OK, here's a release candidate of Audacity for Mac OS X.
There are small issues left: for example, the special
Mac OS X "Quit" item is in the right place, but the
"Preferences" item is still in the wrong place.
No ID3 tags or MP3 exporting yet.
Because it is not multithreaded, there's a rather
unusual limitation: don't hold the mouse down over
a menu bar or scroll bar while recording. If you
hold it down for too long (more than a few seconds),
it will lose samples. Luckily, it will tell you
(after the fact) if this happens.
The same problem happens for playback, but that's
not a big deal, since playback will resume when
you let go of the mouse button.
We're going to have to do a more serious fix for
The good news is that VST plug-ins work now. In fact,
they work faster than on other platforms! And the
Preferences dialog should fully work now.
