How about a set of three square 4x4 or 8x8 pixels. Green, yellow and red, plus a
simple margin counter and maybe a steadily updated level display number.
O O O peak: -0.5dB current: -2.5 dB
Green indicated values below -6 dB,
yellow values above -6 dB (or -3dB and another green for values above -6dB?)
red for clipping, which should be settable from 2 samples of continues 0dB
digital fullscale to 10 samples.
Might I remind everyone that the Redbook standard allows for maximum of five
clipping samples, though nobody seems to know how many samples have to be 0dB FS
to get one.
What do you think ?
It's efficient, it's fast, it gives you all the information you need and with a
little headroom for calculus in the mixer(far future feature idea) and a value
attached to the prime mixer slider, this could complete another part of
Audacity, don't you think ?
Traffic on the Audacity lists has been very heavy lately,
and I've been busy with other things. I am skimming the
emails and saving those I want to get around to later.
I'm hoping to completely redo the TODO list very soon,
and maybe we can have a discussion about priorities.
For the next few days, if you want a faster response
from me, please send me personal email at
dominic@... - I'll catch up with the rest
of Audacity emails soon.
