The current version of Audacity under development is very unstable -
we completely rearranged the source tree layout, and right now it
only compiles on Linux, but not Windows. I'll be fixing this
Let us know what you're interested in doing - did you want to
add a feature, track down a bug, or are you interested in looking
at how it works? Also let us know how much experience you have
with VC++, C++ programming in general, and tools like CVS,
so we know how detailed we have to be when helping you out.
Depending on your goals you may want to try compiling the
released source code to version 0.97, or it may be best for
you to wait a week and then try the newest code.

It looks like we made a few changes recently on Linux that messed things up.
I just committed some fixes; get the latest source code.
Rather than copying the wxWindows directories around, just put them in
your global paths. In Visual Studio, go to the Tools menu and select
Options. In that dialog, go to the Directories tab.
To "Include files", add:
To "Librariy files", add:
(Of course substituting the path where you installed wxWindows...)
Once those are added, and assuming wxWindows has been completely compiled,
Audacity should compile out of the box without any additional modification.
Let me know if you have any more trouble.
