I assume that it is still planned to reintroduce Effect Categories at
some time, and I see that most of the standard Audacity effects have
categories defined. However I notice that the "Nyquist Prompt" is still
unsorted. Could this be categorised as a "Utility"?

It will only be reintroduced when there is a way for users
to turn it off and on, and I believe it would be off by default
(unless there was some way to turn it on automatically
if more than a given number of effects were detected).
I'm pretty sure a higher proportion of users don't use
large numbers of effects than do - especially novices.
If Effect Categories was on by default in 2.0 there would
be far too many complaints because of the increased
navigation needed (though I admit part of the problem
in 1.3.6 was that common effects like Noise Removal were
buried too far inside the tree).

Don't see why not, given it should work on all three
Should it be on our Nyquist "wish-list" that a pre-existing
track is not required for Nyquist Prompt? Or does the
Nyquist Workbench cover this problem now (we haven't
really publicised this, is it mature enough to do so?)
