Do you mean operating system requirement? Yes it's been written for
Windows and is on our download page if you click through to the
Windows links :
Feel free to suggest some text for Linux or Mac if you have experience
on those systems.

I don't know if I can help but I'd like to get some more information about
the problem so we can understand it better.
- Firstly which version of Audacity are you using? You can check which
version by clicking help->about
- Secondly what operating system are you running it on? Windows 95, Windows
98, Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows NT?
- Are you using a virus checker? If so what brand?
- Do you have plenty of RAM memory (i.e. more than 32Mb?).
Unfortunately this is the kind of problem that is likely to take a while to
understand and sort out, so please be patient, and there are no guarantees
that we will solve it.
Details on Preferences:
On Linux machines preferences are stored in files. On Windows platforms
preferences are stored in 'the registry'. For the 1.1.4 beta release I am
planning to adapt Audacity so that you can choose to use files rather than
the registry even on a Windows machine. If we are lucky this will fix your
problem. If you add yourself to the 'audacity announce' list you will get
e-mail when 1.1.4 is ready, but this is likely to be a few months rather
