Summary: Crash when applying VST effects to a copied track
Version: CVS Trunk
OS/Version: Windows XP
In the Windows version of the Audacity 1.1.3 Beta, I experienced repeated
crashes when trying to apply VST effects to copied audio tracks.
Steps taken : I recorded a single guitar track. I then recorded a lead on top of
it. Next, I lined up the tracks using the time shift tool. Then, I selected all
of the second track and Copied. I went to Project->New Audio Track, and pasted
the copied data to the new track. NOTE: This resulted in a difference in the
sample format (from 16-bit to 32-bit float); I don't know if this is where the
problem lies. I then tried to apply the Freeverb2 effect on this track. The
Repeated testing showed that many of the effects would result in similar
behavior, on a copied track. I have been able to apply effects to the original
recorded tracks with no problems.
