Hi Gale,

Thanks for your extensive feed back.
In answer to your questions:

I get crashes in all three cases.

Case b) has three subcases:

(b1) stop recording, disconnect USB, reconnect USB, then press Record
(I can record mic as before)

Crash

(b2) stop recording, disconnect USB, reconnect USB,  then press Record (giving the "error opening" popup), then Transport > Rescan Audio Devices, then press Record
(I can record mic as before)

Crash

(b3) stop recording, disconnect USB, reconnect USB,  then Transport > Rescan Audio Devices, then press Record
(I can record mic as before)

No Crash

In case c) I get a crash immediately when disconnecting the mic.

So in answer to your last question, Transport > Rescan Audio Devices does not prevent all those crashes. In case b2 it comes too late.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for this otherwise excellent application. I really love it.

Than over to some thing else, if you don't mind. Sorry to mis-use this conversation. May be I should post to a more appropriate place.

My use case is mostly to practice singing. That means, loading a song of a professional singer, recording my own voice, listening back, recording again, etcetera, etcetera... and many more etcetera's :-)
I will in some cases mute the professional singer on playback, or adjust volume per track to better hear what I am doing.
In this process it would help if I could stick to a single recording track which I can re-record as often as I want.
That would save me some mouse clicks to delete the previous recording each time.
Do you think this is possible.
I haven't been able to find a way to do this?

With kind regards,
Frans Maas

So Frans, do I take it you actually crash in b) or c) above as well
as in a)?  And does Transport > Rescan Audio Devices before Record
or clicking in the list prevent all those crashes?
