I recently downloaded this free program.  After working with it for several hours trying to figure out how use it, it captured and shut down my cd player on my HP computer. All efforts to bring it back failed. I uninstalled the program and recovered the lost function. I downloaded twice more with the same result. This was extremely frustrating and for a while frightening. I   I realize upgrading software is a real problem for the developer, but when the emerging program shuts down parts of your computer this is scary for an amateur. I had tried to download your earlier version which was said to be stable but discovered Audacity 1.2.5 was  no longer  offered. I am impressed with what it appears Audacity 1.2.6 can do but am afraid to try again. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them, but understand you have no obligation for this service and that I use the program at my own risk. Nevertheless, my report may be of help to you in your work in progress I for this program.

I had also noted that with each switch in the program to a different objective it appears that a new opening of the program occurs, resulting in having the program open several times simultaneously. Also I noted that frequently when I closed the additional openings the dropdown menu for selection of the input source became blank and could only be recovered by closing the program completely and starting all over.

I thank you for the experience and look forward to trying again when this program has been more refined and becomes stable.
