I was looking through the aterm source, wondering if it
would be possible to add an extra feature to the
transparency/fading that aterm does..
I'm not sure any other terminal emulator does this, but
I think it would be a pretty neat feature..
I think a screenshot would be better than me trying to
explain, so

This has been edited with the GIMP btw - I haven't
added the code to aterm to do it because I'm not really
sure where to look right now..
Basically, it would be neat if the background colour
for text could be merged with the bg pixmap as a tinted
region, thereby avoiding blocks of solid colour in the
terminal...

thoughts?

Would doing this slow aterm down too much, since it
would have to do an image operation for every character
update (or could it to be optimised to only update when
the regions occupied by a bg colour change?)

Basically, I was looking for opinions from someone who
knew the aterm code, before I started looking at it,
and any pointers on where to start or the motions aterm
undergoes to generate the image it displays would be
helpful

PS, could you drop me an email if this is replied to as
I don't keep track of things :)

I'm no X or aterm developer, but I think the Xrender
extension would probably do this for you.
