What about sorting the list of files in an open directory?
I have (unfortunately) directories with more that 5000 files in it.
It would be rather nice to be able to sort that list on date, name or siz=
In short: A complete open-dialog would be rather nice!

Cycles through the possibilities (name, date, size) for the sort
order of the directory listing. The sort order that is currently in
effect is displayed in the title bar of the editor window.
Default key mapping: Ctrl S in directory buffers
This documentation is wrong, however: there's no visible indication of
the current sort order. (There was, maybe four years ago, when that
paragraph was written...)
The sorting options need to be more visible. Maybe they should go on
the Mode menu:
Sort By --> Name
With a radio button checkbox mechanism to select/indicate the sort
order that's in effect...

If you have trouble finding the file you want in a directory buffer
(where you can use incremental find to look for it), how would things
be better with a dialog box?
