Any version that i try to load throws an exception when
it trys to load class= sun.awt.windows.wcomponentpeer$2

the error msg = sys32.ddraw.dll failing initialization

    What version of java are you using? (What is the output of
    "java -version"?)

    Exactly what happens when you try to revert to 0.17.0? J
    itself doesn't write anything to the Windows registry, so
    reverting to 0.17.0 should be trivial.

    Are you running two instances of j (or two instances of
    java) under multiple user accounts? (This is the issue
    discussed in the Knowledge Base article you referenced.)

    Have you tried rebooting?

    This seems like a Windows issue (or possibly a Java issue),
    rather than a j issue, but I'll leave the bug open for a few
    days, just in case.

    using java 1.4.1_01

    solved the problem by using the java property "noddraw" on
    starting the application.

    i believe that this is a MS DirectX problem and not the
    application.
