I just upgraded my Mac to OS X 10.2, and noticed odd display problems (seen in both J 0.16.1 and after I upgraded to 0.16.3). The problem is the addition of an extra "space" when typing scrolling or cutting or pasting. Sometimes upon paste, the buffer is corrupted with extra characters.

The Java version:

Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1-root_1.3.1_020714-12:46)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1_03-69, mixed mode)

This appears to be a Mac OS X or Java issue rather than a
    bug in j.

A workaround is to disable hardware acceleration:

    java -Dcom.apple.hwaccel=false -jar j.jar
