Several times when I have attempted to save a modified
buffer, J hangs. It seems to be hanging while calling
'/bin/ls -ld <file>', where <file> is a java file,
because J recovers when I kill that process. The
problem is intermittant (most of the time save works
fine). This problem didn't creep up until after I had
to kill J after it hung.

J version 0.15.2
j2sdk1.4.0 (sun)
Linux (Slackware 8.0)

Sorry, this is a problem that came up after I started
running J through a SOCKS proxy server.

It appears that this is not an actual bug in j, but rather
an interaction with the SOCKS proxy server.

"SOCKS proxy support" might be a Feature Request, but if we
can't run external programs (like "/bin/ls -ld") we'd have
to lose some functionality when running in that environment.
