It can be just a light: red or green. If it is green you get xp for killing big monsters if not, you dont get xp. It can turn red when you kill a big one. To turn it green, one of this two things could happen: 1) A certain amount of time has passed since your last big monster death or 2) You have earned a certain amount of xp by for example killing small monsters or completing a task. In that way, we could not jump from one big monster to another. Or if we do it, it just for the items, not for the xp.
