I have been able to complete a implementation using C++ of our new network
protocol, that as you know, use UDP transmision and it is really optimized
for realtime and turn based games. That is called ariannexp. Unfortunately
there is no C++ server for this new protocol, and you must use Marauroa
http://marauroa.sourceforge.net to be able to connect and try the new
As a note, I am not going to implement a C++ server, but I will do my best
to help anyone willing to do it.
Gladiators is a 3D turnbased game of gladiators, mainly as proposed by
Ragnar-GD, with several modifications that I made myself. The game is coded
using Blitz 3D, that allows a very fast development time prototype, but
unfortunately it is not portable to Linux or MacOS. So I would love to see a
development effort to create a 3D client using C++ and whatever engine you

Honestly, I don't really see the need for a C++
server. Java code should be much easier to read and
maintain. Though there will probably be a speed
penalty in Java, I can't really imagine that being a
big problem as bandwidth is generally the biggest
bottleneck in MMORPG servers, not CPU cycles. IMHO,
Marauroa should exclusively house the Arianne server.
