I have been doing a bit of research and all the sources that I have found
agrees that A* can't be so slow. I also found that a illcoded A* can be
really slow :)
I had a look to ours and you can guest it: it was illcoded :P
I have changed it a bit and now it runs around 10-20 faster.
Anyway there is still room for improvement as I coded also a class to split
the map in big homogeneous areas, where pathfinding is not needed, now I
just need a bit more of work on it and i will get something 100-1000 times
faster that actual pathfinding :)
Once this is done I am going to need a BIG amount of players to test it. I
will tell you when I have completed the code.
