New graphical formats for Arguments

Argumentative now features two new graphical formats.

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) creates a vector rendering of an argument. The feature has been tested with Inscape (https://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/). The transformation file is svg.xslt

Image Map. Using the transform "web page with image.xslt" creates a web page with an image of the argument. You can click on the image and go to the details of the reason or Objection further down the page.... read more

Does Open Source have a future?

A sample argument has been placed on the newly created wiki site.

http://argumentative.wiki.sourceforge.net/Does+Open+Source+have+a+future%3F

Does the argument represent the article? Is the definition correct?

What do you believe the argument should be? Just watch out for the pitfalls:

Argumentative 0.3 released

The latest release of Argumentative sees many improvements in argument visualisation since the 0.2 release. Drop shadows, curved and styled line work, make the graphics more attractive.

The R Notation view offers a more traditional and compact view of an argument.

The essay export feature has the added benefit of confirming if your map makes sense and flows well. Other sample XSL files perform functions such as producing plain text and a basic web page. XSLT is the primary way to extent the output from Argumentative.... read more

Write me an essay please !

The 0.2.1 release of Argumentative has a sample transformation file to create a rudimentary structured essay from an argument map. Use the menu File / Export / Transform… and use the essay.xslt file to create the essay. Export to a text (.txt) file and use your favourite word processor to tidy up. Your argument needs to be made up of sentences (as a good argument should) and not have full stops in the text.... read more
