#142 Invalid User Name

Strange problem. I have recently migrated to a new mac running 10.6.7. I originally called my user name the same as my old mac and the migration assistant had a problem with that so I created a new admin user account and then deleted the original one.
When using applejack 1.6 and attempting to clear caches etc for that new user name, the system correctly identifies that name but when I type it in it says no such user exists?
Any ideas anybody please?
