It can't kill the power, but that's because I've got too old a kernel (2.4.20-derived), and I can't seem to come up with a 2.4.34 kernel configuration that is stable (kernel oopses in the serial port interrupt handler; nothing to do with the UPS). I don't know the difference between these cables; I'm not sure whether they are significant. They could just be different lengths, or with/without ferrite core, or made by different manufacturers (mine was made by FCI (Framatome Connectors Int'l)). Cheers, Jan |
