I was working on a giraffe model. And i notice that's quite difficult to map a simple image based texture to the object because the rendering window is too little. It's possible to resize that window by pulling the corners, but it would be much handy making it fullscreen. Or maybe something else. But the truth is that the current little window make things unconfortable.
Btw, this bug is still present in the textures dialog. I detect it in first time under windows, but it's the same under linux:
