Hello, Does AoE support any sort of retry mechanism in the event of temporary interruption of communication between a vblade host and a client using its service (e.g. cable unplugged, do we retry N times before giving up?). Thanks a lot. Cheers, don |

AoE itself, the ATA over Ethernet network protocol, only says that each packet is considered to be unreliable and that there is a "tag" field that allows responses to be matched with their commands. The aoe driver for Linux will retransmit a packet if it has taken significantly longer than expected to receive a response. That expectation is based on past round-trip times. If no response has been received and a certain amount of time has elapsed (like 3 minutes), then the aoe driver considers the device to have failed. -- Ed L Cashin <ec...@co...> |
