This is a bug fix release.

A big thanks to all that send fixes to me, without you, the AlsaPlayer will not be living.

AlsaPlayer 0.99.80 got stable

I am proud to announce that AlsaPlayer-0.99.80 got stable, thanks to the hard work of every one that contributed to the GTK2 interface and other functions, as well that by submitting/fixing bugs.

Alsaplayer 0.99.80-rc4 released

AlsaPlayer 0.99.80-rc4 is out! This is a bugfix and feature improvement release.

Madej added a song title in the title bar option.

Several bugs was fixed. Among them, libmad was fixed in configure and a possible horrible crash when upgrading from a gtk1 AlsaPlayer version was fixed.

Every user is encouraged to upgrade.

Alsaplayer 0.99.80-rc3 released

AlsaPlayer 0.99.80-rc3 is out! This is mainly a bugfix release.

2 important bugs was fixed:
- AlsaPlayer crash at start up due to loading of the gtk1 config file when present. The gtk2 config file is loaded in all cases now.
- Possible buffer overflow in the vorbis input plugin.

Other fixes include a new and updated Swedish translation and an updated man page.

Every user is encouraged to upgrade.

Hopefully, as the GTK2 interface is working reliably, this will be the last -rc release before 0.99.80.... read more

AslaPlayer: new GTK2 rc2 release, GPL-v3 and more

AlsaPlayer license is changed to GPL-v3. In consequence, all the AlsaPlayer related packages are updated.

AlsaPlayer 0.99.80-rc1: GTK2 interface

I am very proud to announce a new AlsaPlayer release.

First, I must thank Madej from Poland that made most of the work.

The player has now a fully working GTK2 interface.
It includes the same functionality as the GTK1 interface and some new functions.
The play-list window has been completely rewritten and is inside the main window.
The scopes plugins have been migrated too.

Alsaplayer 0.99.78 released

AlsaPlayer is a new type of PCM player. It is heavily multi-threaded and tries to excercise the ALSA library and driver quite a bit. It has some very interesting features unique to Linux/Unix players.

This is a feature enhancement and minor bugfix release. Support for FLAC-1.3 and 1.4 is added. A desktop file is included. See the ChangeLog for the details.

I will also remember you at a new and usable python binding module is available in a separate package. Those bindings cover the functionality in control.h. More functionality can be added it you want, but this level of functionality must be what you are looking for in most cases.

New python module for Alsaplayer and more.

After the release of the long wanted bugfix Alsaplayer-0.99.77 release last week, I am very pleased to announce the release of a new exiting python module for Alsaplayer.

Austin Bingham made the initial release (0.3) of the new alsaplayer python extension module.

This module has dependencies on the boost and python libraries. It will probably move to 1.0 status quickly.

A set of python bindings for the alsaplayer libraries. These are written in C++ using boost.python and are intended to provide a minimal level of abstraction over the C libraries.
Higher-level abstractions and functionality can then be written purely in python.... read more

Alsaplayer: New project administrator and updated cvs

I have been accepted as new administrator for the alsaplayer project: http://sourceforge.net/projects/alsaplayer/

I have just updated the cvs and committed some Debian security patches. A new release will all those long wanted fixes will follow.

A separate release with additional input plugins will follow the bug-fixes release.

Help wanted: I need help in order to assure the future of the alsaplayer. The more important and urgent job to do is a new and modern GUI for this player. This GUI must also do a better use of the functionalities of the core API.... read more

AlsaPlayer 0.99.75 released

AlsaPlayer 0.99.75 is out! This is mainly a bugfix release. Support was added for the ALSA dmix plugin (use -dplug:dmix) to support multiple instances on soundcards without hardware mixing. There were also some imrpovements in shoutcast/icecast stream handling. Basic transport control for the jack output system was added, as were some extra remote
control parameters (--pause, --status, --quit)

AlsaPlayer 0.99.74 released

This release has preliminary support for ShoutCast/IceCast mp3 and ogg streaming. The CDDA plugin also does CDDB title lookup. Lots of other bugs were fixed.
