any help with this problem would be greatly
appreciated...
im new to linux, im using redhat v7.3 with the KDE
gui and was
experiencing no sound. i was told i had to install a
new driver. so i tried to install this driver,
(alsa-driver-0.4.0.tar.gz). extracted it, and tried
to run "./configure --with-debug=detect" from
konsole. when i run this i get the following whether
im root or not;
"loading cache ./config.cache
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $path"

what am i doing wrong? is this even what i want? all
i want is to play sound. iv got onboard sound on an
asus motherboard.

thanks again
