Yes, 2.6.7 and 2.6.8 here. I did a little playing with modprobe.conf too, but not much. In modprobe.conf I see: # This file is autogenerated from /etc/modules.conf using generate-modprobe.conf command alias eth0 8139too alias sound-slot-0 snd-ens1371 install scsi_hostadapter /sbin/modprobe aic7xxx; /bin/true install usb-interface /sbin/modprobe uhci-hcd; /sbin/modprobe ehci-hcd; /bin/tru e remove snd-ens1371 /sbin/modprobe -r snd-pcm-oss; /sbin/modprobe --first-time -r --ignore-remove snd-ens1371 install snd-ens1371 /sbin/modprobe --first-time --ignore-install snd-ens1371 && { /sbin/modprobe snd-pcm-oss; /bin/true; } remove es1371 /sbin/modprobe --first-time -r --ignore-remove es1371 install es1371 /sbin/modprobe --first-time --ignore-install es1371 alias sound-slot-1 snd-ens1371 remove snd-intel8x0 /sbin/modprobe --first-time -r --ignore-remove snd-intel8x0 install snd-intel8x0 /sbin/modprobe --first-time --ignore-install snd-intel8x0 From the modprobe.conf manual page it looks like generate-modprobe.conf is to be used to convert an existing modules.conf file for a 2.2 or 2.4 kernel to modprobe.conf for a 2.6 kernel. I think my playing in modules.conf was completely ignored, and that generate-modprobe.conf doesn't seem to be run automaticly. I think I'll need to learn this stuff as I've got a Hoontech Digital-XG card with S/PDIF that I want to install in the same machine. Thanks for the tips.... -- Kevin |
