I have sound working over HDMI on a board with a RealTek ALC888 and a Intel chipset wich reports the codec to be Chrontel HDMI.
I have tried making the HDMI sound work on a Aliza sound chipset and ATI card ( ATI X1200 with the MAY release of ATI  and RealTek ).

When I try to make the sound work on my HDMI out with speaker-test, I dont get any errors, just no sound ..... I never tried on an Nvidia board that why I suggested to try to post on NVidia forums, but since the HDMI sound needs to work with the Video Card AND the sound card, if the drivers from NVIDIA a not good, no sound.

I also read on a few posts in different forums that the HDMI sound works on the HD series of cards from ATI but I had no experiences with these cards.

Good Luck  ! and if you get the sounds working, be sure to post your progress.

Just FYI, the NVidia forums have very little on Linux at all. Less than 30
messages in the past 4 years, unless I'm searching wrong.

Or did you mean a different NVidia forum from the official one?
