I have three sound cards connected to my machine: -- an intel8x0 -- a bt878 sound source -- an USB audio device I want to make sure that they get assigned the same dspX and mixerX devices each time I boot. How do I do that? The problem is that I need the USB audio device under VMware (to run Dragon NaturallySpeaking), so I have to point VMware precisely to, say, /dev/dsp1. Aliasing snd-card-X and sound-slot-X doesn't seem to improve things. Devices still get assigned in any order. --J. |
