You can try to add an entry like this in quirks-table.h { USB_DEVICE(0x0763, 0x201a), .driver_info = (unsigned long) & (const struct snd_usb_audio_quirk) { /* .vendor_name = "M-Audio", */ /* .product_name = "Micro", */ .ifnum = QUIRK_ANY_INTERFACE, .type = QUIRK_COMPOSITE, .data = & (const struct snd_usb_audio_quirk[]) { { /* Control device */ .ifnum = 0, .type = QUIRK_IGNORE_INTERFACE }, { .ifnum = 1, .type = QUIRK_AUDIO_STANDARD_INTERFACE }, { .ifnum = 2, .type = QUIRK_AUDIO_STANDARD_INTERFACE }, { .ifnum = -1 } } } }, |

You need to add the entry to the file sound/usb/quirks-table.h in your Linux kernel sources. You then need to recompile either just the sound-usb-audio module or the full kernel. Last time I tried it, building kernels for the Raspberry Pi wasn't very straightforward. I would suggest that you try to get your sound card working on a different machine using a desktop Linux distribution first. If you want to jump straight to trying to build kernels for the Raspberry Pi, http://elinux.org/RPi_Kernel_Compilation is the place to start. Torstein |

to Torstein I will try on a different machine using a desktop Linux distribution first.but i cant found folder sound/usb/quirks-table.h on my raspberry pii, where it is? ==== to Clemens yes if a desktop Pc like window it automatically work even without driver. You will have to recompile alsa if you want that change to take effect. Not a simple operation for the uninitiated. b) I believe Clemens meant do you have a desktop machine running linux and does the card work there. Ie, he is wondering if there is something about the Raspberry pi and its version of Linux that is causing the problems. USB sound cards SHOULD just plug in an play. That it works that way on Windows (ie no driver needed) suggests that that should also work for Linux. There is a soundcard standard for usb sound cards, and if the card obeys those standards it should work. The only fly could be that the sound card requires firmware to operate (as with many of the Maudio products). Then that firmware must be loaded to the card first. Without it the device is not a soundcard at all. > -- William G. As Clemens pointed out, the quirk I suggested earlier shouldn't be necessary. Can you first try to obtain the full dmesg output from when plugging in the device? The necessary steps are: - unplug the device - run 'sudo dmesg -c' - plug in the device - wait for at least 2 seconds - run 'sudo dmesg -c' again and post the output of this last command I see you posted some dmesg output at http://www.linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11068 but I think that was incomplete. |
