I've done a little home work on this and found only one company, Audio Science, that supports Linux and ALSA. I'm going to upgrade a small 1000 watt AM radio station from DOS (litteraly MS-DOS 6.0) to Linux (Debian or SUSE).Can anyone make some recommendations or point me to an article that has more info on Broadcast quality sound cards. So far my google searchs prretty much point me to ALSA's SC Matrix, which does not give me the info that I need. Any personal expereinces would be welcome too. Many thanks, Norm -- Norman V. RME (mine: http://www.rme-audio.com/english/hdsp/hdsp9632.htm ) works good and lasts a long time.=20 It's been a 2 or 3 decades since I engineered a radio station, and it was all analog back then. This card has only 1 (stereo, but the channels can be used individually) analog input and output (plus a "headphone" jack). But a balanced I/O connector cable is available with XLR connectors, and there are several channels of AES digital I/O. You might want to look into Agnula/DeMudi ( http://www.agnula.org/ ), a Debian system optimized for audio work. I think it's based on Sarge. And Rezound would be a wonderful sound editor/processor for a radio station's production needs. --=20 Glenn English gh...@sl... GPG ID: D0D7FF20 |
