The "XWindows graphics" one or the DGA one? The first is always slower, and it's normal as it uses the XWindow protocol (that also allows to run a program on a remote computer and see the output on your local screen). The DGA driver is surely faster, and it should not differ so much in performances from the svgalib one... What version of XFree86 are you using? If you're using 4.0.x, you could try out the current Allegro CVS version, as I just recently added to it a new DGA 2.0 driver that also uses hardware acceleration if available. Speed should not be a problem anymore... =) -- Angelo Mottola a.m...@li... >From <all...@ca...> Fri Sep 29 18:30:59 2000 Received: from tsmtp1.mail.isp [195.235.113.141] by canvaslink.com with ESMTP (SMTPD32-6.00) id A8227C019E; Fri, 29 Sep 2000 18:30:58 -0400 Received: from pedos.es ([193.152.162.134]) by tsmtp1.mail.isp (Netscape Messaging Server 4.1) with ESMTP id G1O6HM00.MBL for <al...@ca...>; Sat, 30 Sep 2000 00:29:46 +0200 Received: from gregorio by pedos.es with local-smtp (Exim 3.12 #1 (Mega-Debian)) id 13f8Nb-0000Nx-00; Sat, 30 Sep 2000 00:11:43 +0200 Date: Sat, 30 Sep 2000 00:11:43 +0200 (CEST) From: Grzegorz Adam Hankiewicz <gr...@in...> To: allegro <al...@ca...> In-Reply-To: <Pin...@pe...> Message-ID: <Pin...@pe...> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII X-Sender: gradha <gr...@te...> Subject: Re: [AL] Possible overruns inside Allegro? Well, I guess I belong into the group of people who confuse days with months and so on :-) I retried the example, and it now works correctly. Maybe the test I did was with that mmx version of blit which was wrong around 3.9.31/3. Anyway, now everything seems to be working all right (and I deleted one more of my pending emails. Hey! I hope to reach soon that fbcon patch :-) Grzegorz Adam Hankiewicz gr...@in... - http://gradha.infierno.org Other web pages: http://glub.ehu.es/ - http://welcome.to/gogosoftware/ |
