I tried compiling Allegro (following the instructions) and it compiled
fine using just make. However , when I attempted
to compile the Debug version , it locked up tight and I had to exit. I'm
somewhat confused as to why it locked up
during the debug compile.
Pentium 600 Mhz
256 Mb ram
Plenty of disk space.
Paths are set correctly.
I've compiled it this way before on my old 486DX without a problem (of
course that was back in version 4.03). Below is where it stopped and was
writing docs/scite/allegro.api(SCiTE API File)
Thanks in advance

Remove file docs/scite/allegro.api if any and try running again
"make docs/scite/allegro.api". If it blocks, it means there is
a problem with makedoc compiled in DEBUG mode. If it doesn't, it
means that make is failing somewhere else and makedoc's output was
the last message that was printed.
Please tell us which is it.
