#71379 CVS usage issue

David Burley
Pat Niemeyer

I'm not sure if this is related to the recent CVS
issues or not as I haven't been committing changes for
some time. However the past week I find that about 50%
of the time I try to reach the BeanShell CVS repository
it is unavailable. I get an SSH warning that the host
key has changed and if I accept the new host key the
server does not have the repository on it. After a few
hours it seems to flip back to the correct server.

The issue you have cited is covered by the Site Status page
(link in left navbar); text shown below:

    ( 2004-05-03 05:41:25 - Project CVS Service ) As of
2004-04-28 the CVS services will no longer function with the
    hostname of cvs.PROJECTNAME.sourceforge.net. You should
change your CVS commands to use the host cvs.sourceforge.net
(the fix for this under all platforms is to perform a
checkout into a new directory using the new hostname) and
that should resolve any outstanding issues that you may have
(this includes issues relating to the SSH host key change
warning, among others). This issue came about as a result of
upgrading from BIND 8 to BIND 9 which doesn't allow for a
wildcard in the middle of a hostname.

Should you have further questions or concerns regarding this
matter, please add a comment to this request.
