Hi,
I've reported a bug to the gnuplot project, and it has been fixed and closed quite some time ago. In the last couple of days, I have, however, been getting quite a few e-mails about the bug, because some spammer is commenting on the bug. That user is called 'nobody'. To see what I'm talking about see: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=102055&aid=1716556&group_id=2055

Could you please disable this user account, as it is obviously a spammer?

Thanks,
Søren

  • Hi Søren,

Actually, that's an anonymous user. There is no user to delete, else we would. The issue is that your tracker is set such that it allows unauthenticated users (anonymous / nobody) to post like this.

You can change this as a project administrator. Here is the path to get this done:

Tracker > Bugs > Admin > Bugs (or whichever tracker you want to adjust) >
    Update preferences

There you can set Visibility of this Tracker - to allow only visibility to project members, all site users, and or totally hidden. The "Allow non-logged-in postings" check box allows non-authenticated users to submit tracker items, and SPAM. Unchecking that is the lowest barrier to block spammers.

If you need anything else, please post a response to this request.

    Cheers!,

Daniel Hinojosa - Sr. Manager, SourceForge.net Support

P.S., Support items set to status of 'Pending', will auto-close in 14 days if there is no response. Also, be sure to monitor our Site Status page: https://sourceforge.net/sitestatus .

    Hi,
I cannot do as you suggest as I am just a user. I am _not_ an administrator of the gnuplot project. Can I at least somehow unsubscribe from the bug, so the spam messages aren't send to my e-mail?

    Søren

  • Søren,

I have removed this tracker item. I believe you will not see any more from that.

    Best regards,
