#129192 FRS: Primary download not reflected on summary page

No

Our project has two release packages. One for the main app, that's supposed for everybody. the other is a support package that's only interesting for a very limited audience. Therefore the download button on the main project page should point to the latest release for the main package, not to the secondary package. In the new website layout (or perhaps this was true before), I cannot find any way to control this. As a result, the Download button points to the wrong package. How can I fix this? And if I can't, this is a very serious and important RFE!

  • Greetings,

Do you have the desired file set as your primary download? If so, I'll need to investigate further as I think that is how things should work. I could be all wet, but, let's find out. Get back to me with how you have that set up.

Need anything else? Drop a comment into this support request. We'll get back on it!

    Cheers!,

Daniel Hinojosa - the SourceForge.net support gnome

P.S. - We have a new Site Status page: https://sourceforge.net/sitestatus . Keep up with the latest site and service issues there! Also, get outage notices by email, find out how here: https://sourceforge.net/community/forum/topic.php?id=2728&page&replies=1

  • Yes, the last release of the main package is set as the primary download file (in Create/Edit Download Page). But I am unable to find a single place anywhere on the project pages that depends on this choice. Certainly not the big green Download link on the front project page.

  • Hi Christiaan,

At present, this is functioning as designed. The issue is that the most recently uploaded file is what displays in that box. I am working with the engineering team to design a model where users can select the file they want in that box.

If you would like, I can escalate this issue as a Request For Enhancement (RFE). Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

If you need anything else, please post a response to this request.

    Cheers!,

Daniel Hinojosa - Sr. Manager, SourceForge.net Support

P.S., Support items set to status of 'Pending', will auto-close in 14 days if there is no response. Be sure to monitor our Site Status page, https://sourceforge.net/sitestatus.

  • If it's as designed, than the design is wrong. The problem is that I /can/ and /did/ choose a primary file, but it isn't used. That's just a bug. So perhaps an RFE, but really it's a bug.
