Hello,
I'm trying to change my email address, and after that, my password. I've been to the My SF.net tab > Account Options, and have found both the links, for email address change and password change. But when I click them, I get a nearly blank, black page with a small, white, sort of clock face without numbers, that is spinning around and around -- typically a "please wait" symbol.

But then nothing else happens. I've waited over 5 minutes (even though I'm using a DSL connection), but nothing else ever appears. The process seems to be stuck on the spinning white symbol.

I've looked at the Help page, where it was suggested to check the Site Status page, to find out if there are any known issues, but everything there is "Online". I did see an older issue that said all members passwords should be changed. So I tried changing my password before changing my email address. But all I get is the same spinning white symbol.

So I give up. What's the trick?
Thank you very much.

    Greetings,

Hmm... That's odd. There is not trick. It should just work. What's your OS, Browser, and versions of each? Also, please send me a link so that I can see if I can re-create this.

I'm using Windows XP Home xp2 with IE 7 sp2, both fully updated.

I'm not sure what you want a link to? My Account Options page is:
    http://sourceforge.net/account/
(which I assume everyone's is) and that same address appears in the address field of my browser when the spinning white symbot on blank, black page appears

I'm not sure this would be helpful, but just to be thorough:
I tried clicking ON the white spinning thing, but nothing happens. However, if I click anywhere else on that page, I'm redirected back to my Account Options page. But just before my Account Options page opens, there a quick flash of a small window, and I can just make out the word "Email" before it's gone again. I couldn't tell you anything else about it, because it really is just a flash.

Does that help? What is it you want a link to?
    Thanks for your help.

    This problem still persists.
    Just FYI, no rush :-)

    Greetings,

Ya, that was the link I was looking for. This isn't out of the ordinary stuff. https://sourceforge.net/account/change_email.php?TB_iframe=true&width=300&height=350 <- try that and see if it takes you to a greyed out screen with a box to enter a new email address. Let me know what happens.

Yes, it takes me to a grayed out screen with a place to enter a new email address. Is that MY account? Ok, I entered my new address and it says a confirmation email is being sent. Ok, it's arrived, I've followed the link, and it says my address change is complete (although it may take 24 hours to take effect).

    So should I use
    https://sourceforge.net/account/change_password.php?TB_iframe=true&width=300&height=350
to change my password? Should I wait 24 hours before changing the password? Or will there be an entirely new process to change my password?

    Thanks for your help.

    Greetings,

Wow. I'm really confused. Is that link on the Account Options (https://sourceforge.net/account) really not working for you? Please give that a try first. If that does not work, here is the URL that should be there:

    https://sourceforge.net/account/change_pw.php?TB_iframe=true&width=300&height=350

    Hi Daniel,
Well, I've been pretty confused too!
"Is that link on the Account Options
(https://sourceforge.net/account) really not working for you?"
YES, it's really NOT working! I wouldn't submit a Support Request and waste everyone's time if I didn't sincerely have a problem.

Whenever I click on either link, to change my email address or my password, I'm taken to that blank, black screen I described, that has a spinning white symbol in the middle (the kind of symbol that usually means "please standby" or "page is loading" or the like). But nothing else ever happens, I never get to any other pages (and I've waited up to 10 minutes). And if I click my mouse anywhere except on the spinning white symbol, I'm redirected back to my Account Options page.

In all the time we've been working on this, nothing has changed. I get the spinning white symbol on a blank, black page, and that's all I ever get. If you want to do some troubleshooting, beyond what we've already done, I'll be glad to help, just let me know. FYI - I'm using Windows XP Home xp2 and IE 7, both fully updated. I've checked on several IE settings that I thought might be interferring, but everything seems to be in order.

In any case, when I tried to log in just now, I got a new page telling me I need to choose a new password. And that seems to have been successful, as I'm logged in with the new password now.

So other than the spinning white symbol stuff, everything's fine. I've changed both my email address and password, and that's all I wanted to do. Please feel free to let me know if you want some help with further troubleshooting. Otherwise, you can close this support request now.

And thank you very much for your help!
    All best,
    Brynn

    Brynn,

Nope, I was interested in getting you over this hump, so I think we're set.
