I know this is on the to-do list, but since it's important to me, I thought I would place it here as well.

It might be good to have at least five roles with the following permissions:
Admin: everything
Editor: edit any article
Author: edit only articles they write
Member: view all articles
Visitor: view only home page

It would be best if the role permissions could be user configured. Some might want visitors to be able to view all articles, for example.

In process, but I'm working in the design, trying to find the best solution.

About "Author: edit only articles they write" it will come in the next release.

    >> Member: view all articles
In fact the system allows members to view closed content from sections where their group have access. In this way it is possible to have sections with content/Access for different groups of members.

    >> Visitor: view only home page
The visitors have access for all open pages or sections, this can be done creating private sections and leaving public only the home page.
