Hi, I was wondering if the aironet card drivers allow for changes in the power level being used by the card, dynamically, as against setting the level at boot time, and not changing it thereafter. - Swetha _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Yes, they most definitely do. You can re-configure the card on the fly as much as you want. Just keep in mind that some of the cards have more power options than others... (30mw vs 100mw cards) Jim > > Hi, > > I was wondering if the aironet card drivers allow for changes in the power > level being used by the card, dynamically, as against setting the level at > boot time, and not changing it thereafter. > > - Swetha > -- | | Jim Veneskey :|: :|: Software Test Engineer :|||: :|||: 3875 Embassy Pkwy, Akron OH 44334 .:|||||||:..:|||||||:. Does anyone know why this is? My desktop supports changing power levels. but. ironically, my laptop doesn't. My guess is that there is some boot block or part of the flash that governs power and WEP that could be changed to enable functionality. Ben Jim Veneskey wrote: > > Yes, they most definitely do. As far as the power levels are concerned - if you have a radio with a maximum output level of 30mw - there is nothing any firmware/bootblock can do to enhance it. It is a physcially different radio than the ones that can do 100mw. Jim > > Does anyone know why this is? My desktop supports changing power levels. > but. ironically, my laptop doesn't. There was a "rumor" posted here some weeks back that the 100mW cards would be manufactured again soon... Any truth to that? TIA -----Original Message----- From: air...@cs... I'm certainly can not comment on rumors speculating on unannounced Cisco products. I like my job too much... :-) Please feel free to speculate - but also please don't direct such questions my way.
