Bugs item #1162575, was opened at 2005-03-13 13:01 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=581579&aid=1162575&group_id=86976 Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Bob Proulx (rwp) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: fails to match some filenames Initial Comment: On first look it appears that some filenames are lost and aide will not scan them for changes. Here is how you can create one test case for aide-0.10. I used Debian's sid aide-0.10-4. mkdir -p /var/tmp/www/www.proulx.com/public_html echo foo > /var/tmp/www/www.proulx.com/public_html/foo cat >/var/tmp/www/conf <<EOF database = file:/var/tmp/www/db database_out = file:/var/tmp/www/db.new /var/tmp/www/www.proulx.com/public_html R EOF cd /var/tmp/www find . ./db ./conf ./www.proulx.com ./www.proulx.com/public_html ./www.proulx.com/public_html/foo aide --config=/var/tmp/www/conf --init --verbose=255 ... /var/tmp/www/www.proulx.com match=0, tree=6266912, attr=0 Interestingly if I change the dots to underscores things work. ln -s www.proulx.com www_proulx_com perl -pe 's/www.proulx.com/www_proulx_com/' conf > conf_ aide --config=/var/tmp/www/conf_ --init --verbose=255 ... New start_path=/var/tmp/www/www_proulx_com Matches rule from line #4: /var/tmp/www/www_proulx_com/public_html The current CVS source for today exhibits the same behavior. Bugs item #1143889, was opened at 2005-02-18 08:20 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=581579&aid=1143889&group_id=86976 Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Link Error / Multiple defined db_writeacl() Initial Comment: On a SunOS 5.8 machine, I'm trying to compile with sun ACL support. I was getting multiple defined db_writeacl() errors: db_disk.c:510 int db_writeacl(...) db_file.c:775 int db_writeacl(...) The "version" of db_writeacl in db_disk just returns failure, but assuming that that was intended, I just made db_disk's copy of the function static. It links okay after that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=581579&aid=1143889&group_id=86976 |

It would be possible to attach a patch which contains everything which "gettextize" does automatically, but that would not be as clear (e.g. the changes applied by re-running aclocal; automake -a -c -i; autoconf). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=581581&aid=1124782&group_id=86976 |

For example, if I want to have a single aide.conf for linux 2.4 and linux 2.6 kernels, I would probably want to exclude /sys. However, this would /sys exclude from being checksummed on 2.4 systems where /sys probably might be a normal file system. I would like to be able to exclude all files on file systems with type proc and sysfs. Please consider adding this feature to aide. Patches item #985632, was opened at 2004-07-05 22:39 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=581581&aid=985632&group_id=86976 Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Bryan Henderson (giraffedata) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: fix: aide --init misses whole subtrees Initial Comment: Here's a fix to a problem wherein aide --init omits files from the database it creates. I don't know the exact mechanism of the failure, but it's based on the fact that aide --init refers back to the tree of files to determine whether the descendants of a directory need to be included in the database (NODE_ADD_CHILDREN attribute), but does not in fact build the tree. The code to build the tree explicitly skips the step in the --init case, because it does not think the tree will be needed. This patch approaches the issuing of messages under verbosity control differently than a recent fix in the same area: It uses error() instead of printf(). That seems to me the better way to go. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=581581&aid=985632&group_id=86976 |

Bugs item #980481, was opened at 2004-06-27 00:52 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=581579&aid=980481&group_id=86976 Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Bryan Henderson (giraffedata) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Doesn't include all the files specified Initial Comment: aide --init does not include all the files specified by the config file in the database. Whole subdirectories of a pattern are ignored. I don't know the details of why, but I tracked it down to the fact that populate_tree() in gen_list.c does not bother to populate the tree if it's just --init, thinking the only reason to populate the tree would be to do a later compare. Well, there's apparently another reason: the NODE_ADD_CHILDREN attribute from the tree figures into Aide's later decision to include the children in the database. I removed the explicit skipping of check_rxtree() etc. when DO_COMPARE is not set, and the problem went away. But this exposes a problem in aide.c wherein it tries to compare the old and new database, and in the case of --init there is no new database. So I had to rework the conditionals immediately after populate_tree() in aide.c as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=581579&aid=980481&group_id=86976 |

In particular, this affects Apple Mail on OS X: the IMAP connection hangs indefinitely, expecting more of the AIDE message, requiring a force quit. I don't know if this affects any other mail clients, but since Mail can easily handle much longer messages, I assume that there is a problem with how the message is terminated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=581579&aid=965037&group_id=86976 |
