    Hi,

    I'm new to this project and thought cool I can connect to the Mac in the other room.

    But when I tried to compile it fails... configure seems to go ok but make gives...

    cd . && /bin/sh /home/nick/Desktop/Downloads/afpfs-ng-0.8.1/missing --run aclocal-1.10
    cd . && /bin/sh /home/nick/Desktop/Downloads/afpfs-ng-0.8.1/missing --run automake-1.10 --gnu

    That last line seems to be very confused.

    It's on a Gentoo 2.6.28r1 box.

    Any help gratefully accepted.

    Thanks

    Nick

      You've got some sort of ugly libtool problem... what distribution are you using?

        Hi,

        it's on a Gentoo system.  I've just recompiled half of it though so maybe a reboot will help.

      Hi,

      progress report.  Rebooting didn't help (sorry Windows habits :-) )

      I got my hands dirty and changed the Makefiles to use the standard libtool rather than the supplied one and things compiled.  What will that mess up?

      The commands now dumped but I'd seen the error before and added "-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=0" to the CFLAGS (this seems to be a GCC 4.3.3? thing) and it seems to be OK now but as a normal user it says..

      afp_client: error while loading shared libraries: libafpclient.so.0:

      so I'll need to change the configure to put those somewhere else.  Is gentoo non standard in some way or is it my fiddling?

      Thanks

      Nick

      Sorry for so many small messages..

      using --prefix=/usr sorts the libraries not being found and the "-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=0" is a Gentoo thing.  It defaults to "-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2" on their builds and this breaks some things.

  • Just ran into this problem (also on gentoo).  I also used the system libtool (why does this project bundle it's own libtool anyway?) and got a working compile.  I also had the problem of missing libraries, until I updated the library cache (by running ldconfig).

    You probably want to run 'libtoolize' before running configure.

  • That fixed the compile without me having to force the system libtool to be used.
