In many places Adminer still uses the PHP function ereg(). This is deprecated since PHP 5.3.0.

Adminer disables deprecated warning so this shouldn't be an issue. Please provide a detailed description of what specific problems is this causing.

  • Deprecated functions can and will be removed in any future release of PHP. There will not be an announcement in advance.
There is a good alternative (preg_match) that works since PHP 4. Instead of waiting until it becomes problematic it would be smart to stop using it in the near future.

I think he meant that the function could disappear in newer PHP versions (maybe in PHP 5.5?), so relying on ereg_* is not a good solution and should be replace by preg_* functions.
