Hi,
for our company i tried setting this up, however when visiting the site with mod_auth_ntlm_winbind enabled and debugging on, in the logs i notice that first it says "got NTLMSSP command 1, expected 3", then right after that "got NTLMSSP command 3, expected 1"... what might be going wrong here? i have run out of ideas how to solve this and would greatly appreciate any support. Also if anyone has authentication via this module working, maybe you can tell me what it should look like in the logs.. regards.

forgot to mention: the server is bound to the domain, wbinfo queries run successfull and samba and winbindd daemons are running... and the problem equally occurs with either IE6 or firefox3.

I was recieving the same errors. I disable the "Negotiate" options and it worked.
comment these lines
NegotiateAuth on
NegotiateAuthHelper "/usr/bin/ntlm_auth --helper-protocol=gss-spnego"
