    Hi All,
The Adaxa team (with a big contribution from Tony (tspc) and Michael) has extended Jorg's "Production" to make it more capable and added a section to the menu which we have named as "Manufacturing Light" (I will call as "ML").  The menu section groups some existing, new and modified processes and also the Libero BOM viewer with some changes (thanks Victor).

I doubt that the code is in the Adaxa branch yet because of vacations, if it's not there we will put it up shortly in our branch.

Victor and I discussed the manufacturing options at the Berlin conference because we don't want any confusion to arise about Adempiere having 'competing' manufacturing options.  If Adempiere were to have only one option it should be Libero because it is designed to be far more feature-rich and it follows the APICS concepts and ML is tiny compared to Libero and does not follow the APICS conventions. So, a matter for later consideration is whether basic Adempiere should provide only Libero, because confusion might arise if we had two manufacturing options, or whether there is also a different role for ML and its existence would not cause confusion.  Note that there are also some very basic database incompatibilities such as ML using Jorg's old BOM table (curable if desirable).

There is a document here …
    https://adaxa.box.com/shared/pddyx6nsaz#/shared/pddyx6nsaz/1/48079770/1224412229/1
that describes the functionality and which may be of interest.  You will note in some screen grabs that the 'Report & Process' function form has been modified to allow you to 'remember' a set of parameter selections.  This is recent stuff and may also be of interest to others.

    regards
    Steven

    Hi Steven,
Thank you for your "Manufacturing Light".
This functionality is very interesting for small and middle manufacturing companies.
Our company implements MFG functionality and there were cases when clients required more simple manufacturing than Libero MFG.
We will be glad to assist you in testing, stabilization and implementation of the ML.

    Hi Steven,

Another, very good contribution from Adaxa.

I will participate with pleasure in testing and stabilization of this module.

    Hi
Just to clarify about the code.
There was a code upload to the Adaxa branch about 4 weeks ago that includes what is shown in the document except:
..the BOM viewer in Zk (will be added later)
..the single product BOM report  (a missing print format)
.. the buttons on the sales order line to generate a work order or a shipment (the process code is there but the columns are not added to c_orderline and the Report and Process is not created in AD)
..the 'remembered parameters on Report&Process is not implemented in Zk

    regards

    Hi Steven,

I took a quick look on your documentation and looks great! Thanks.

I would like to point out that I also think that this contribution is very important and is not competing at all with Libero because my believe is that they address different segments of manufacturing industry.

Obviously we need to have this module as an official ADempiere extension but I am thinking how to actually do it. I think here we need to brainstorm a little. Any ideas are more then welcome.

First option, and i think the fastest and easy one is to release it in a similar way as Libero. I think this is doable right now.
But I am just thinking deeper about this, because at this moment, Libero has all it's database model directly in ADempiere core and wondering if this will collide with Manufacturing Light (ML). Wondering if is possible to make Libero and ML to share the same database model (ok, with some differences).
I also think (from my understanding) that OSGI will not completely solve the problem because the tricky part is with database model.

Another option would be to completely deprecate current ADempiere manufacturing and replace it integrally with ML, because from my understanding, ML was created starting from old ADempiere production and it's aim is to complete that functionality. Also this is doable too.

What I've presented above or just some draft ideas, but I think this subject shall be discussed in next Technical Team meeting, so I will not go forward with this offtopic here. If somebody is interested, maybe we can open another thread to discuss the technical aspects.

Regarding remembering process parameters, well, we need that so bad!

    Best regards,
    Teo Sarca

    Correction: sentence
"Another option would be to completely deprecate current ADempiere manufacturing and replace it integrally with ML"

    shall be read as
"Another option would be to completely deprecate current ADempiere production (not Libero but what we inherited from Compiere) and replace it integrally with ML"

    Sorry for confusion.

    @Adaxa
Thank you very much for terrific work and professional business relationship.  We are very much interested with your products and we are sorry that  we could not  involve you in our projects … that was because of long distance and some other risks.  | FINA Team.

    Hi all,
Has anyone installed this on adempiere3.7?  want to test, an installation instruction will be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Hi all,

i have the same question as "bma". How do I itegrate ML into Adempiere 3.7.0 (3.7.1)? Since the link to the documentation above is dead, it would be nice if someone could tell me, where i can find a documentation or at least a description of that module.

    Thanks,

    Tobias Thiesmann

    Hi all,

@adaxa: Thanks for the Documents, they were very interesting.

Still I found no way of building/integrating Manufacturing Light.
If I check out the "Manufacturing Light"-branch from the "contribution_adaxa"-Repository and try to build it, the compilation fails because of missing methods in the "AbstractExcelExporter"-class. Is there some way of work-around, because i'm sure I don't need an Excel-Export?

    Regards,
