  • Hello,

I have used acidrip a long time ago (fine soft!), but now, after a few upgrades (acidrip and mplayer, mencoder) something goes wrong.

I set the item "filesize" to 700 Mb but when I finish the encoding, the resultant file is about 560 Mb.

I am using debian unstable, with marillat binary packages of mplayer, mencoder, acidrip.

    Here are the versions:

    Acidrip 0.12
    MPlayer 1.0pre4-3.3.3 (C) 2000-2004 MPlayer Team
    MEncoder 1.0pre4-3.3.3 (C) 2000-2004 MPlayer Team

    Any ideas ?

    • possibly you're using the wrong codec or something... no idea withuot more information, e.g. the debug log.

    • i too have this problem. I just finished ripping a movie and the filesizes came out as ~350mb each, when i had selected 700mb as the filesize. had i known it would do 350 each i would've just asked for one file, not 2 :/

i have it also, i set to use a filesize of 1400 mb, but i have a 891 mb file :s

      here is the debuglog:

    • this is not an acidrip bug.

firstly, acidrip clearly passes the desired bitrate to mencoder. that's all acdirip is ever supposed to do, and it works. if this was not happening, the encoding would fail totally

secondly, this is how divx works. the bitrate is a maximum value, not a contant value. 1700kbps?? There is simply not enough data to fill this space with. Why use up space when it is of absolutely no benefit to the encoding quality? That's one of the key strengths of divx encoding, and you should be grateful for it!

      Cheers
