#11 acidrip does not always recover after mencode errors

To work around the auto-crop bug I enter the crop
option in the Misc line: -vop crop=702:552:10:12. Then
I want mencode to to put in the movie aspect ratio in
the avi file so in the Video options field I add
"aspect=1.7777" for widescreen. When I then press
"Start" the GUI crashes and mencode is not run. acid
rip does not die though, I have to press ^C on the
commandline to abort it.

When I run the mencode command by hand this is the output:

$ mencoder -dvd 1 -dvd-device /dev/dvd -alang en -sid 4 \ > -oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:br=128 -ovc lavc \ > -lavcopts
\ > -vop crop=702:552:10:12 -o /film/beauty_and_the_beast.avi

again please attach debug log file.

The debug log was very usefull it showed that I was a bit
presumptious. I supplied v4hq as a codec option, this is
not a valid option, v4mv is the correct option.

When I ran this with debug on acidrip recovered and got the
    main window up again.

BUT, when I also supply a subtiteling option (5: English)
and no debug logging the main window never reappears after
mencoder fails. With debug logging on the main winodw
reappears. The attached is a save then save continously log.

yes but it's a log with the incorrect lavcoption in it. the
command you specified to run still works directly just fine
for me, so not really much use i'm afraid.

    • summary: lavc option aspect=1.7777 causes rip to crash --> acidrip does not always recover after mencode errors

OK, let me restate the problem as I now understand it: When
a incorrect option is specified and mencoder exits
immediately acidrip does not always recover.

Specificaly, if I specify "m4hq" as a codec option (A error
I know) and select a sub-title this happens. When I do not
specify a sub-title acidrip recovers correctly.
